Hardware-Related Issues
1. The UT2 doesn’t recognize the SSD I installed. What can I do?
A. First-time SSD installation (new device):
- If the SSD is not recognized, please check whether the SSD model is supported and compatible with UT2.
- If the SSD is compatible, please check the interface and ensure the SSD is firmly inserted into the slot. If the SSD is still not recognized, try inserting it into the other slot.
- If the problem still exists, please contact our support team support@unifydrive.com for further assistance.
B. If the SSD suddenly becomes unreadable after a period of normal use: Try moving the undetected SSD to the other slot — the one where the working SSD is currently installed.
- If the SSD is still not recognized in the new slot, the issue is likely with the SSD itself.
- If the SSD works in the new slot, insert the previously working SSD into the original (possibly faulty) slot. If it works normally, the issue may be software-related. If it fails to work, the problem may be related to the hardware. Please contact our support team for further assistance.
2. The UT2 suddenly shut down while it wasn’t connected to a power source. After plugging it back in, it still won’t power on. I’ve tried holding the power button and even removed the SSDs, but there’s no response. What should I do?
When you encounter this issue, it’s often related to power supply or battery connection. Please try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:
- Put UT2 on charge for 1-2 hours. Then disconnect the external power source and long-press the power button for 5 seconds to restart it.
- If the issue persists, please refer to the steps in this video: https://youtu.be/mQNO9rTWBoM. Detach the battery pack from motherboard and long press the power button to restart it with external power source.
- If the device boots up, please reconnect the battery pack until you notice one beep after connection; If the device is still not booting up, please contact us through support@unifydrive.com.
3. I have connected the UT2 to my computer using a USB C to USB-A, but the computer client shows the UT2 in an offline state. Why is this happening?
This may be due to a network connection issue or incorrect usage mode. Please try the following steps:
- Please check the ethernet cable connection, make sure it is connected with the proper router connector; Or, you may enable bluetooth and configure the WiFi connection with UnifyDrive app from your cellphone; If UT2 has got Internet access, this issue will be fixed.
- If you would connect UT2 to your computer as an external storage, please login UnifyDrive app and enable "Flash drive mode" with exFAT files' format; After that, you may connect it with your computer and being recognized as an external storage.
4. I am trying to register my drive as a new device but I can’t get past where it says to agree to the user agreement. I don’t see any agreement, and I cannot check the box. How do I get past this?
This issue is often related to an unstable internet connection. Please try the following steps
- Please check the Internet connection from your cellphone and try different Internet/ WiFi networks. Such an issue could be caused by the Internet connection. Please refer to this step-by-step video tutorial for new device registration: https://youtu.be/ymBr8HuMRoc
- Please check the color of the power light. If it shows a red light, it means there is no Internet connection with UT2.
- Please configure the WiFi connection as the above video mentioned. If it shows a green light, please clear the cache and restart the UnifyDrive app from your cellphone.
5. Why UT2 is using an older USB 3.0 port? /Why UT2 is adpoting USB3.2 Gen1?
This is because UT2 uses an ARM-based processor. In terms of interface performance and specification support, the CPU only offers USB 3.2 Gen1.
While this is indeed lower than what an x86-based solution can provide, ARM offers key advantages such as low power consumption and versatile interface support. In comparison, x86 processors consume significantly more power, and managing heat dissipation becomes a major challenge.
